Training School 1: Physics, Math, and Tech of Plenoptics
The first PLENOPTIMA Training School on Physics, Math and Tech of Plenoptics will be held in Tampere, Finland, on March 21 – March 24, 2022. The school will be organized as a face-to-face event with streaming option for attendees that will not be able to make it to Tampere. The goal of the training school is twofold.
First, it should introduce the newly employed Early-Stage Researchers, as well other PhD level students interested in plenoptics, to the fundamental knowledge on which PLENOPTIMA is built, namely, light field formation and propagation, and corresponding signal processing methods and tools for capture and processing of image (light field) data.
Second, it should serve as a catalysator for enabling collaboration between the participants. By having an on-site event, the participants will, through participation in lectures, exercises, and social events, get to know each other better, share ideas, and have a chance to start collaborations.
The lectures and exercises at the school will be given by experts from the PLENOPTIMA beneficiaries (Alessandro Foi, Sebastian Knorr, Humeyra Caglayan, and Erdem Sahin) and invited renown researchers (Donald Dansereau and Giacomo Boracchi).
The training school will cover the following topics:
- Physics of light and optics
- Vector spaces in signal processing and signal sparse representations
- Multi-view geometry and light field imaging
- Signal dependent and correlated noise in imaging
More detail on the schedule is available on the Programme page.
The school is primarily intendent for Early-Stage Researchers working in PLENOPTIMA project and other participants are welcome to join it as well. If interested to attend, please contact the organizers.
Welcome to Tampere!
