I am working as Early Stage Researcher at Tampere University (TAU), Finland, and my research topic is “Perceptual Modeling and Optimization of Computational Light Field Displays“.
You can read my introduction here.
Stereoscopic near-eye displays (NEDs) fail to recreate some depth cues, i.e., accommodation and motion parallax which are necessary for immersive depth perception. Light field NEDs would address these issues. I am focusing on developing computational perceptual models considering the human visual system for such displays. Following a state-of-the-art overview, I proposed a perceptually oriented LF reconstruction scheme, which is composed of a reconstruction network and a human eye optic model. Several loss functions are introduced to optimize the reconstruction network, including pupil plane loss, retina plane loss, and neural contrast sensitivity function loss. I investigated the effect of different schemes analyzing the optical resolution and accommodative response on images formed on the retina.
