I am working as Early Stage Researcher at Tampere University (TAU), Finland, and my research topic is “Wavefront Coding for Computational Plenoptic Cameras”.

Progress
I am currently working on extended depth-of-field (EDOF) microscopy problem. In this problem, the main idea is to use metasurface elements to modify the wavefront and reduce blurring by finding optics with defocus invariant point spread functions. To find the optimal optical design, I use deep learning. But because of the physical limitations, only optical optimization is not sufficient, especially to achieve EDOF. Therefore after the optics, I use an image reconstruction network to get sharp images. I jointly optimize the optics and deblurring network to achieve superior performance with an end-to-end network. You can find more details in this video:
For the current research problem, the designed network created different metasurfaces that operate effectively across various depth ranges. The next step will be fabricating the designed structures and building a real-life functional EDOF microscope.
