Meet our Early Stage Researchers: ESR16 Linzhi Yu

Tell me something about yourself?

My name is Linzhi Yu. I was born and raised in China. Before joining the PLENOPTIMA project, I first obtained my bachelor’s degree in Applied Physics at Yanshan University. Afterward, I completed my master’s degree in Electronic and Information Engineering at Sichuan University. During my master’s study, my research focused on optical high-precision measurement. Additionally, I also have strong interest in photonics, deep learning and image processing.

Why did you apply to the PLENOPTIMA project?

PLENOPTIMA is a cross-disciplinary project comprising multiple research groups in optical and computer sciences, offering abundant resources for researchers. The research topic I am involved in aligns perfectly with my academic and professional interest and goals. Therefore, it presents an excellent opportunity for me to conduct my doctoral research.

What kind of expectations do you have for your research project and the upcoming network training?

In my research, I aim to develop hardware solutions for implementing artificial neural networks using optical techniques. I hope that the outcomes of my research will make contributions to the fields of optical and computer sciences, while also bringing new perspectives to other researchers. In addition, I am excited about the prospect of collaborating with and learning from individuals across various domains during network training.
